Need a marketer that’s passionate about setting the foundation for great marketing programs?

My name’s Megan West, I’m a mid-senior level marketer with over six years of experience marketing in agency and in-house roles, with a special focus on B2B SaaS for the past four years. I’m passionate about building marketing programs that provide businesses and entrepreneurs with a solid foundation, while empowering them with the knowledge to understand the processes and strategies we’re implementing.

I have marketing expertise in: B2B SaaS, AI Technologies, Real Estate, Telecom, Health Sciences, Ag-Tech, Marketing Agencies

My Career Story

I fell into branding and marketing at a very young age. At 13/14 years old, I was dabbling in coding with Tumblr, learning how to add media players, and custom features to my site. When Instagram first took off, I was one of the first on the platform. The launch of the ‘creator economy’ was truly when I was getting into the social media influencer/content creator territory. I signed with an agency called StyleHaul, quickly learned about brand guidelines, and what content looked like for companies, and fell in love with the process. I ended up attending the University of Colorado Denver and studied Business + Marketing, all while working full-time as a Marketing Coordinator at a Real Estate Brokerage. Fast forward six years later, I’m a mid-level marketing manager that has found my niche in product, content, social, and lifestyle marketing.

My approach to marketing management

When I step into marketing management roles, my approach tends to be similar each time…

In the past few years I’ve held a marketing management role managing customer lifecycle journeys, digital content production, and 1:1 relationships with outsourced creative/specialty agencies all in some sort of capacity. Regardless of what activities are running, my first course of action is always to make a clear game plan in my first 90 days of WTF is going on, and outline all of the activities. I like to think of all the marketing activities as touch points, and prioritize where I jump in based on highest priority once we get what’s going on outlined. A lot of startups have direction coming directly from the Founder, so my goal is to get in and create realistic expectations as early as possible.

My view on content marketing strategies

I have a different perspective on content & marketing strategies thanks to my unique background in the influencer/content creator space.

Working in the creative space as a hobby, I’ve always been handed a brand guide or playbook, and been told - go create with your personal touch, but stay within the lines. For me, this was always a challenge to bend the rules, and color right outside the lines, but in a way that the brand could still use. I think more brands need to approach their marketing this way, especially as Gen-Z enters the market, and finally has purchasing power. It’s pretty powerful what can happen for a brand when they humanize and show personality in their content. I take this same mentality and apply it to content management in the B2B space as well. I find that I have more impact this way.

A few professional recommendations I have received:

“Megan is very bright and enthusiastic about marketing. Importantly, she is also scrappy, and self-motivated, responsible for several marketing functions on her small team. I had the opportunity to coach her on her Hubspot and marketing ops, and I’m so excited to see where her career takes her in coming years.”
